Knight Foundation

KNIGHT FOUNDATION

The Knight Arts Challenge helps artists and arts organizations bring to life authentic works and experiences that capture the spirit of their city. It strives to engage and enrich people through the arts, so that high-quality cultural experiences are a part of our daily lives, making art general in communities and felt by all.

For the program’s 10 year anniversary celebration, Kismet Creative Studio worked with the John S. And James L. Knight Foundation to craft a series of videos documenting how Knight Arts has contributed to the exponential growth of the arts community in Miami. Several interviews were conducted with arts leaders from a variety of disciplines, an enormous amount of performance and exhibition footage was recorded, and KCS creatives dove deep into the archives over the last decade of arts programming in South Florida.

The project resulted in the creation of a 4-minute documentary short recalling Knight’s efforts to make art general in Miami that was screened on awards night at the Perez Art Museum Miami. Also screened on awards night was a short profile describing the creation of the physical awards, sculpted by Miami-based artist Nick Lobo, which were handed out to winners that evening. In addition to the videos crafted for the awards presentation, Kismet Creative Studio also produced a series of three 1-minute profile pieces, as well as two :30-sec graphic promo videos, for distribution on various social media platforms.

As part of the video marketing strategy for the 10 year anniversary of the Knight Arts Challenge, Kismet Creative Studio designed two graphic promo videos for distribution on Knight Foundation’s various social media platforms. The first video was created as an open call for applications to the grant opportunity from artists and arts organizations in Miami, Detroit, St. Paul, and Akron.

The second video KCS designed targeted artists and art lovers in South Florida to promote the 10 year anniversary celebration event, held in Museum Park in Downtown Miami on the first day of Miami Art Week. Both the Perez Art Museum Miami and the Frost Science Museum were free to the public with music, performances and visual art installations featured throughout the evening.

Kismet Creative Studio also produced a series of three 1-minute profiles highlighting arts excellence in the city of Miami as part of the video marketing strategy for the 10 year anniversary of the Knight Arts Challenge. The first two videos feature Third Horizon Caribbean Film Festival co-founder and creative director Keisha Rae Witherspoon, and artistic director of Miami New Drama at the Colony Theater Michel Hausmann. The third video showcases voices of leaders who represent some of Miami’s leading arts institutions. The profile series was distributed on Knight Foundation’s various social media platforms as well as on the Knight Arts website.
